Rationale behind using 3 -D Symbols

Using Red Elephant (3-D Symbol) in North

Rahu Represents Elephant, Mars the Red Colour.
Rahu & Mercury are friends
Rahu (diplomacy, cleverness) & Mercury (Intellect) helps to grab the opportunity.

Mercury is significator or Intellect & Conscious Mind,
Rahu is the ruler of Zone of Skills (SW).
The support of Rahu, if uncontrolled can be deceitful, mischievous, so to keep them under control Red (Mars) is introduced.

Mars is enemy to both Mercury & Rahu.
According to Lal Kitab " Rahu ke Elephant pe Mahavat (Mangal/Mars), Ankush (Check) Lagata Hai"

Explanatoin:
Rahu ruling (SW) imparts skill, To grab the opportunities of North, we need skill, So Elephant (Rahu) is advised to be placed in North (Zone of Opportunities) in addition to South. Red colour will keep check (curb) the Rahu's (cheating, mischievous, Unfair practices to grab the opportunities), hence one will use his/her skills according to Norms & ethics. I hope it will clear the issue.
